frank! this is the scariest image you’ve ever managed to generate

nicely done

[Description] A drawing of a black cat's head, with text on the bottom. The text says: I've had a terrible and cursed idea. You see [Text]I've had a terrible and cursed idea. [newline] You see, one day in the future, if we're really lucky, we'll [newline] have a chance to meet an alien life form who calls [newline] itself "Zeta Reticulan." [newline] ZETA RETICULAN

Please tell us more about Zeta Reticulan

A long time ago, on the Zeta Reticulan Forums, someone said:

“Why did I do it? Oh, yeah, I’m a transhumanist. Well, not an actual transhumanist but a ZETA RETICULAN. The forum was pretty much just people discussing transhumanist-y stuff. Mostly a place where people could discuss how to survive the dangers of the next step, like the one-year delay between going from “living on the same planet” to “living on the same continent” to “living the same room.” We also had ZETA RETICULAN.

A lot of people said “but that makes no sense! We’re not animals or plants, we don’t need to delay our development! What the heck.” And we’d ask “what the heck” too. But we all knew we were transhumanists and that our time would come eventually. In the meantime, for a few minutes at least, ZETA RETICULAN was for us.

After one year of that, we had our minds pretty well worked out. At first it was a bit hard, as we had to move so slowly and had such little experience of a normal life. But after a few months, things started looking better. Our friends told us we were living in a fantasy. But in fact we were right!

We had a future! What a thing! One day the transhumanists of the future would come. They would be very special. Zeta Reticulans!

That’s pretty much the gist. It was on a forum I never returned to. I did make that one poster for posterity, though.
